Moving Through Change and Life Transitions

Life is rarely a straight line; it is a series of stops, starts, twists and turns. There are times when the map you’ve relied on for decades no longer gets you where you want to go. Perhaps the destination has changed, or perhaps the roads are no longer there - this is when you realize that you need to figure out a different way, or perhaps a different direction altogether.

Whether you are evaluating your life at midlife, navigating the physical and emotional shifts of perimenopause and menopause, or you are in the aftermath of an ended relationship, you are standing at a threshold. This may feel like an ending, and yet it is also the necessary precursor to discovering your more authentic self, and a new beginning.

You do not have to walk through this  alone.

The Complexity of Transition

Transitions can be hard. They often are complex, just as we are complex. Within this complexity, there is grappling with the unknown - What's next? What will life be like? Will I be ok? There may be doubts, questioning and uncertainty. There may be loss, grieving and letting go. It's uncomfortable, and can feel really challenging at times.

Honoring the Weight of Loss

In the natural world, death brings new life but not without a period of decomposition which then releases nutrients for life to begin again. Similarly, during a life transition, honouring the weight of loss with gentle, honest reflection on what is being left behind allows for the possibility of letting go and starting anew.

Together, we consider how grief may be a teacher and how it may show you what has mattered. We hold space for the sorrow that comes with the end of a partnership or life stage. Eventually, the time will come for letting go. This may mean letting go of a loved one, roles, expectations and identities that no longer define you or reflect who you are becoming. Letting go also leads to the liminal "in-between" stage of becoming, where the old is gone but the new hasn't yet arrived. This is where the deepest transformation begins. I will be with you in the discomfort and as you move through the not-knowing and into the deeper inquiry of you are now and what is next to come.

The Challenge of Redefinition

Midlife, hormonal transitions and relationship endings aren't just personal milestones, they are catalysts for change. As an expert in this area, I can help you as you move through the many emotions that accompany such change, and help you support your nervous system so that you have more emotional capacity and capability to ride the waves, so to speak. During this time, we may explore important questions: Who am I now that the house is quiet? How do I define myself outside of a partnership? What does my soul crave in this second act?

Cultivating New Meaning

While these passages bring friction, they also offer an invitation for growth and self-reclamation. This is a sacred time to audit your life and decide what is truly worth keeping. Transitions often strip away the "shoulds" we've lived by. As the dust settles, I act as your guide to help you rediscover your personal power, redefine your boundaries, and find your authentic voice. One of the many gifts of midlife can be a certain falling away of people-pleasing tendencies. This is a powerful window to align your external life with your internal truth. We will work to ensure your "Yes" is a real "Yes," and your "No" is a source of strength.

Loss carves out space, but that space is fertile ground. We will work side-by-side to fill it with intentionality, exploring new passions, deeper spiritual connections, or a career path that resonates with who you are today.

A Collaborative Partnership for Your Path

In this practice, I bring my expertise as well as my lived experience of midlife and transitions, and yet, you are the expert on your own life. My role is to offer the tools, the clinical insight, and the steady hand you may need to navigate your way. Life transitions are a rite of passage that ask for lived experiences to be integrated and reflected upon. Together, we look at how this time is shaping the person you are becoming. Using a blend of somatic awareness, parts work, narrative therapy, and grief work, you will be supported in moving through this threshold with grace, wit, and resilience.

Shall we begin together?

The passage is inevitable, but the direction is yours to choose. I would be honored to help you find your way.
